Elsie Beckmann - Demo - Download
Release date: N/A, recorded on 3rd May 2011
This is the demo of my band, consisting of Thomas from Kids Return on drums, Tom and Danny from Railway Ghosts and Mars To Stay on bass and guitar, respectively, and me on guitar. We all chipped in on vocal duty. This may or may not see the light of day as a physical release. We wrote some half decent emo which I think sounds a little like Engine Down and Sleepytime Trio, at least it was meant to at the start but we did our own thing with it. We were actually better than the recordings suggest and should have played more than one gig. Maybe we will but it's pretty unlikely. Anyway, hope you like it; my first band. Download

Inter #8 - List + Perfect Future - Split - 12''
Joint release with Count Your Lucky Stars (USA), Ezes Code (Japan), Hansei (UK), Live Together... Die Alone (USA) and Ödebygd (Sweden)
Release date: 22nd March 2011

Cover artwork by Adam Mullet and layout and typesetting by Alan Dubinsky (both of List).

As time goes by releases that I am involved with seem to take longer and longer to be completed. The List / Perfect Future split took about a year and a half to sort out but fortunately it was worth it. List were very short lived, hailing from Portland, playing a handful of gigs and recording their six song discography before one of their members moved back to the UK. Their sound is total ninties emo, with a large slice of The Van Pelt in the mix, if their name doesn't immediately give that away. So few bands are playing this sort of thing nowadays so its a pleasure to help with release for a band that did it so well. Perfect Future play on the other side and have a slightly more modern emo sound - the band really have improved over time and these songs are their best yet. Excellent riffs and yelped vocals - they do a great job of creating a quite unique sound within which you can still see some influences of classic bands. Review List MP3 Perfect Future MP3

Inter #7 - El Eje Del Mäl + Inquiry Last Scenery - Split - 7''
Joint release with Liku-Likuan Hiburan (Malaysia) + Tenzenmen (Australia)
Release date: 4th October 2011

This release... wow I had some problems with it. In any case, I sit hear now listening to the songs and looking at the cover and despite the difficulties I am still really glad that it happened. Sure this ain't gonna make you throw your Orchid records away but it's incredibly solid modern screamo in my opinion. I say modern, some of these songs were probably written two years ago. Still, when euro skramz and the like are beginning to falter even for me, these songs ring in my ears and remind me how much I enjoy this genre of music. These are probably El Eje Del Mäl's last songs; they started out as a pretty poor screamo band to be honest but got better and these and their songs from the Heads And Heads split are quality. Inquiry Last Scenery have evolved well over time too, changing members it seems but converging towards a distinct sound that promises even more. I love the artwork, it was created by a good friend of mine during mornings when I really should have been studying. El Eje Del Mäl MP3, Inquiry Last Scenery MP3

Inter #6 - Kaddish - Kaddish - 12''
Joint release with Autumn Jams (UK), Parade Of Spectres (UK) and This One's For The Crew (UK)

Kaddish, hailing from Dundee in Scotland, have been a band since around 2002, yet it is only in much more recent times that I heard about them and that they have released records which have got reasonable circulation. A lot of credit of which should go to to Sam and Derek from Parade Of Spectres for making this full length happen. It consists of ten tracks of screamo, with both plenty of chaos and melody. There are a range of influences, from Jeromes Dream to Orchid, as well as more modern bands such as June Paik. However, there is a significant amount of originality here too, the result is that this doesn't really sound like anything else. Overall, this is a very welcome release from one of the best UK bands to ever play this genre. Review MP3

Inter #5.5 - James Dean - James Dean (second version) - 7''
Joint release with Hey Presto! (Australia).
Release date: 22nd April 2010 (first version was released sometime in 2008)
62 made
Cover artwork consists of my home town, Longwell Green, in the 1920s and 1930s

This is a second version of the James Dean 7''. Just over 200 were pressed originally by Lawrence of Hey Presto!, 103 of these were released (the rest were planned to be part of a box set later on but this didn't happen). Out of the remainder, 50 then got lost in the post, leaving 62 which is what this new version consists of. It should be noted that Lawrence did all the hard work, I pretty much just jumped on the bandwagon and designed my own cover. James Dean play 90s style emo but with clear influences from their modern Australian contemporaries. The result in my opinion is stunning and I hope as many people as possible check this band out. Sorry for the inflated price on the 7'', the reason is due to the small pressing that was originally made and having to get them posted over from Australia. Review MP3

Inter #5 - Évariste Galois - Demo - tape
Release date: 12th February 2010
102 made
Cover artwork consists of a picture of the mathematician Évariste Galois and extracts from his work and letters

This is the demo from three young guys from South Wales, playing great melodic punk / post-punk that takes influences from Jawbreaker and Garden Variety. One of my friends tells me the riffs off one of the songs are lifted straight from Fugazi but that's no bad thing! I must admit I am far from being an expert on this genre but Évariste Galois have a pretty refreshing sound to me. These are four of their earliest songs; perhaps the first four. Review MP3

Inter #4 - Me And Goliath - Me And Goliath - 10''
Joint release with Disposable Culture (UK) and Parade Of Spectres (UK)
Release date: 2nd August 2009

I really liked this band's demo and split 7'' and said I'd be up for helping to put something out for them. Well it took a while for this to happen but it worked out for the best as they got seven songs together which I think are pretty stunning. This is screamy emo from Kent in England that people say has that old Ebullition sound, I guess comparisons with Portraits Of Past and Closure are not too far off, but it's also got the more modern euro screamo sound too. Inter #3 - Isaïah - Ils Consomment, Tuent Et Prient Mais Ne Pensent Pas - 12''
Joint release with FUX (Belgium), Let The Tigers Out (Belgium), Ruin Your Fun (Belgium), Still Leben (Germany), and Swarm Of Nails (France)
Release date: 30th April 2009 / 13th July 2009

I really liked Isaïah's demo and tour CDr so it was great to get involved in helping to release their LP. They have a new vocalist Damien for this release, who replaced Mario. The sound remains similar though, European screamy emo from Belgium that is harsh in places but very melodic in others. I would compare them to bands such as Lakmé and Bökanövsky, though the songs tend to be a fair bit longer due to the melodic parts. They could also be compared with June Paik who make similar kinds of songs. Review MP3

Inter #2 - Yossarian Is Drowning + We Are Corpses - Split - MCDr
Joint release with Neat Skeleton (Canada)
Release date: 25th April 2009
73 made
Cover artwork by Gareth Lloyd (of Neat Skeleton records)

Four years or so after initially being planned (both bands broke up shortly after recording their tracks) Gareth of Neat Skeleton and I have finally released this split. It took a while to get sorted and the songs sound a little rough but they are still awesome in my opinion, I am really pleased with how the packaging and inserts turned out too, in particular the stamped envelopes that Gareth made. Yossarian Is Drowning and We Are Corpses are two great but short lived chaotic emo bands from England. Review Download Out of print

Inter #1 - Cest Urekha! - Demo - CDr
Release date: 30th June 2008
111 made using different coloured card and CDrs
Cover artwork by Edgar Fafutis (of Hey Hey! records)

First release! Four tracks of promising Malaysian screamo, it was great to be a part of this. I had set up a distro in February and didn't really plan to get involved in putting out records at that time, but when the band asked me about releasing their demo I was very happy to get involved. C'est Urekha! have a sound not unlike other Malaysian screamo bands such as Utarid, whilst still managing to distinguish themselves with it. If you like Malaysian screamo and bands such as Tristan Tzara then I recommend this. Review Download Out of print
